KUCHING: The Land and Survey Department Sarawak (JTS) not only plays the role of land administrator but also serves as a key facilitator in ensuring the smooth implementation of strategic development agenda in the region.

Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the efficiency of the department is crucial in supporting various development projects that have a direct impact on the public.

“JTS is highly important, not only as the land administrator but also as the facilitator of the state’s development.

“This department ensures that Sarawak’s strategic developments including road and bridge construction as well as the provision of water and electricity supply are completed according to specifications and within the stipulated timeframe,” he said.

He spoke when delivering his address in conjunction with the JTS Innovation and Integrity Day 2025 at a hotel, here on Wednesday.

Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar stressed that the department’s land surveying and acquisition activities must be strengthened so that implementing agencies can commence physical projects on time, thus avoiding development delays.

“Therefore, the efficiency of JTS in land surveying and acquisition must constantly be enhanced from time to time.

“This efficiency is critical in supporting other implementing agencies to ensure all physical projects approved under the 13th Malaysia Plan can begin on schedule and be carried out smoothly,” he said.

The Sarawak Secretary added that JTS must not be complacent with its current achievements as the people are increasingly demanding faster, more efficient, and friendlier services.

“Innovation is not merely about creating new systems but also about improving work processes, expediting approvals, reducing bureaucracy, and enhancing service delivery efficiency,” he explained further.

Also present were Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Sarawak (MUDeNR), Datu Abdullah Julaihi, Director of Land and Survey Sarawak, Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
