SEBUYAU: The 10th series of the Project of Dream Realised (Pro-DR) programme organised by the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) with the support of the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) opens up education, training and career opportunities for students and rural youth.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister for Utility and Telecommunication and Sebuyau Assemblyman, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi here, on Monday.
In his speech, he stressed that digital innovation now plays a key role not only for urban communities but also for rural areas with technologies such as solar energy and the Internet of Things (IoT) capable of helping the agriculture and fisheries sectors produce higher quality products and further streamline efforts.
Dato Sri Julaihi also explained that under the leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, the state government is committed to strengthening renewable energy with a target of 10,000 megawatts of energy generation capacity by 2030, of which 60 per cent is generated through solar energy.
He added that this initiative is in line with efforts to empower human capital through the transformation of education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to produce a digitally literate generation that can contribute to Sarawak's aspiration to become a developed state by 2030.
The Pro-DR 2025 roadshow programme will continue for 29 days with the participation of 45 education and training institutions throughout Sarawak.
In addition to education and career exhibitions, this programme also offers industry sharing sessions, interactive quizzes, treasure hunts, karaoke stages, as well as information on scholarships and job opportunities in the digital economy.
The opening ceremony was also enlivened with a launch gimmick, prize presentation, photo session, and an official visit by guests of honour to the exhibition site.
Also present were TEGAS Chief Executive Officer, Udin Bujang, Samarahan Division Deputy Resident, Rais Ahmat, and Sebuyau District Officer, Ayuradiman Bujang. -UKASnews
