Sarawakians Encouraged To Enliven National Day 2025 Celebrations In Sarikei

SARIKEI: The Sarawak Government encouraged all the people of this region, especially the people of Sarikei and surrounding areas, to come together to celebrate the Sarawak-Level National Day 2025 Celebrations which will be held on August 30 and 31.

Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah as the Minister-In-Charge for this year's celebration, said the people are urged to fly the Jalur Gemilang in their homes, premises and vehicles as a sign of love and loyalty to Malaysia.

“The National Day celebration is not just an annual event, but a manifestation of the spirit of struggle of previous generations that should continue to be instilled in every citizen.

“The theme of ‘Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni’ reminds us that true independence is when the people continue to be protected, valued and treated with respect in all aspects of life,” she said in a special press conference here, Monday.

She stressed that this celebration is not only able to nourish patriotic spirit, but also raise awareness of the importance of unity, tolerance and cooperation between races in Sarawak.

According to her, the theme of this celebration also aligns with the aspirations of Sarawak Maju Makmur which emphasises the well-being of the people, inclusive development, as well as appreciation for cultural diversity and human values.

Among the main events scheduled include the Merdeka Night on August 30 at the Kampung Seberang Sarikei Integrated Sports Complex, the Unity Walk at the Sarikei Sports Complex, and the National Day Assembly at the Sarikei Civic Centre on the morning of August 31.

Dato Sri Fatimah expressed confidence that hosting the event in Sarikei this time will build a closer spirit of togetherness, thus strengthening the identity of the people of Sarawak as a sovereign, harmonious, and competitive society.

Among the distinguished guests scheduled to attend are the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Openg.

Also present at the press conference were the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport, Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil, Sarikei Division Resident, Datu Michael Ronnie Langgong and other guests. -UKASnews
