KUCHING: The Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (SCOPE) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance anti-fraud awareness, training, and professional certification in Sarawak.

According to a statement, the MoU establishes a framework for collaboration between the two organisations to jointly promote fraud prevention and detection best practices, organise professional training programmes, and provide training for the globally recognised Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification in Sarawak and the surrounding region.

“The collaboration is expected to benefit government agencies, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), statutory bodies, and private sector organisations by providing targeted anti-fraud education, knowledge sharing, and access to global resources.

“Under the agreement, training and capacity building programmes will be organised such as anti-fraud training, seminars and workshops, including the CFE certification programme.

“Additionally, it will facilitate the sharing of resources, research findings and best practices on fraud prevention and detection.

“There will also be special projects aimed at developing tailored training programmes for the Sarawak public sector, GLCs, statutory bodies and the private sector,” it said on Monday.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of SCOPE, Joseph Lim noted that this partnership with ACFE marks an important step in equipping Sarawak’s public sector, GLCs, and industries with the tools and skills needed to detect and prevent fraud.

“It aligns with our mission to raise governance standards and foster a culture of integrity,” he said.

ACFE President John D. Gill, J.D., CFE, said that the ACFE is pleased to partner with SCOPE to deliver high-impact training and opportunities for professionals to obtain the CFE credential in Sarawak.

“Together, we aim to build a community of anti-fraud professionals who can protect organisations from financial and reputational harm, both now and in the future,” he said.

The MoU will be in effect for two years and includes annual reviews to ensure alignment with evolving anti-fraud strategies and Sarawak’s development goals. -UKASnews
