MIRI: Senior citizens in Sarawak aged 60 years and above are encouraged to take the opportunity to apply for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Sarawak Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) during the mobile service programme to be held at the Miri Indoor Stadium on 16 and 17 August, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The programme is organised by the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Piasau Branch in collaboration with the Sarawak Social Welfare Department, with the cooperation of the SUPP Piasau Branch Youth and Women's wings, and PMG Pharmacy.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the presence of Social Welfare Department officers from Kuching will allow immediate processing and issuance of KGCs to eligible applicants.

“This includes first-time applicants, applicants who have applied and are awaiting their cards, and those replacing lost or damaged cards.

“For KGC registration applicants are required to bring their identity card together with a photocopy of their next-of-kins' identity card, while SCHB registration only requires the applicant's identity card.

“Representatives may register on behalf of physically challenged individuals by bringing the required documents,” he said in a press conference here, on Friday.

In addition to KGC and SCHB services, PMG Group will provide free health screenings, insulin tests and dental services.

Sarawak Energy will also open a booth to provide information on smart meter installation, e-billing registration and mobile app services, as well as facilitate appointments for smart meter replacements, while Hotlink will participate by giving away free SIM cards.

Therefore, the Piasau Assemblyman urged senior citizens and their families to make full use of the opportunity to obtain the benefits provided by the Sarawak Government, while also gaining access to various health and utility services at the same time. -UKASnews
