Sarawak Deputy Premier Receives Courtesy Call From Danish Ambassador

KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of Denmark to Malaysia, Kirstine Vangkilde Berner on Thursday.

The Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development together with the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Datu Chiew Chee Yaw, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Latiff Coupon, Sarawak Port Advisor, Datuk Ian James and Kuching Port Authority General Manager, Robert Lau, warmly welcomed the Danish delegation to Kuching.

During the meeting, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah elaborated on the portfolio under his purview and emphasised the importance of forging smart partnerships with international partners, underscoring the strategic direction of the Sarawak Government as it moves towards future development.

The delegation also shared their perspectives on potential growth opportunities within Sarawak’s port sectors.

Earlier that day, Kirstine met with the Sarawak Premier and expressed her admiration for the impressive momentum of Sarawak’s growth.

Representing Denmark, a strong maritime nation, she highlighted the shared goals and priorities between Denmark and Sarawak, particularly in green transition initiatives such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and hydrogen, as well as sustainability agendas.

According to her, Denmark is keen to deepen bilateral ties by leveraging its expertise, experience, and commercial strengths to collaborate closely with Sarawak in achieving these goals.

Accompanying the Danish Ambassador were the Embassy of Denmark’s Head of Trade, Mark Perry, Commercial Advisor, Jennifer Tang, as well as Director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Fenny Nuli. -UKASnews
