MIRI: Risk management is considered an important element in ensuring the effectiveness of the quality management system in an organisation, in line with the requirements of MS ISO 9001:2015 which emphasises a risk-based approach to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of public services in Sarawak.

According to a statement, the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) in collaboration with SIRIM Academy Sdn.
Bhd. recognised its importance and organised the MS ISO 9001:2015 Risk Management Understanding and Implementation Workshop on 5 to 6 August 2025 at the Meritz Hotel, involving 32 officers from units in the Sarawak Premier's Department (JPS).

“This workshop focused on understanding the basics of risk management, risk assessment methods, and the application of the principle of risk-based thinking in existing work systems.

“Through interactive sessions and practical training, participants were exposed to various techniques for identifying risks, analysing impacts, and planning effective mitigation actions,” it said on Wednesday.

It also stated that risk management is not just a compliance requirement but a proactive and resilient work culture.

This approach not only reduces uncertainty in the work process, but also opens up opportunities for strategic improvements in line with the agency's quality goals. -UKASnews
