KUCHING: Three housing projects in Kuching previously classified as sick projects have now been fully completed after years of delay, bringing much relief to affected homebuyers.

The three projects are Taman Millennium and Taman Greenwoods in Matang as well as Fu Yu Garden at Jalan Batu Kawah.
According to Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, a site visit was conducted on 4 August to officiate the handover of Occupation Permits (OP) to the respective developers.

In a statement today, he said the Taman Millennium project, which was initially scheduled for completion in 2020, experienced a five-year delay before finally receiving its OP issued by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) on 25 July 2025.

Meanwhile, the Taman Greenwoods project also received its OP on 21 July 2025, granted in stages for 31 units of both single-storey terrace and semi-detached houses.

“Several units have already been handed over to their owners following an eight-year delay.

“Repair works for the remaining incomplete units are currently underway and are expected to be completed soon,” the statement said.

As for the Fu Yu Garden project at Jalan Batu Kawah, the OP was issued on 1 August 2025, marking the completion of the project that was delayed by more than two years from its original target in 2022.

Datuk Michael reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to resolving issues surrounding problematic housing projects to ensure buyers can enjoy safe, comfortable, and secure homes.

Meanwhile, the site visit was also attended by the Chairman of MPP, Tan Kai, ministry officials, MPP representatives, and the affected homebuyers. -UKASnews
