KUCHING: The Borneo International Integrity Summit (BIIS) 2025 continues to drive the importance of integrity, innovation and ethical leadership as the core of sustainable development in the Borneo region.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr. Juanda Jaya said, BIIS 2025 is a catalyst for collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies in producing future leaders who are credible, ethical and highly accountable.

"It strengthens public awareness and understanding of the importance of integrity, transparency and accountability values, thus fostering good and effective governance.

"Through talks, forums and leadership dialogues, participants have the opportunity to delve into current issues and exchange views and best practices in strengthening integrity-based governance," he said.

He said this when speaking at the Opening Ceremony of BIIS 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Tuesday.

Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas was present to officiate the programme on behalf of Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Datuk Dr. Juanda added that the summit served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies in building ethical and responsible future leaders, as well as being a catalyst for innovation in administration based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.

In addition, he explained that BIIS 2025 also impacts national development in raising awareness in society, especially students and civil servants, on the importance of integrity values in education and administration.

"This initiative has a significant impact not only on the educational institutions involved but also on the development of regional countries.

"It strengthens cooperation between institutions, fosters a culture of integrity from the school years and elevates Sarawak as a pioneer of the integrity agenda in the Borneo region," he said. -UKASnews
