KUCHING: The prestigious Digital Economy Awards (DEA) are back, held in conjunction with the 8th edition of the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS).

The IDECS, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, is a key initiative by the Sarawak Government to drive innovation and socio-economic progress.

Over time, IDECS has evolved into a globally recognised platform, demonstrating Sarawak’s commitment to building a robust digital economy in collaboration with international technology leaders.

A notable result of IDECS has been the establishment of eight crucial initiatives guiding Sarawak towards a digital-oriented economy. These efforts include the creation of key institutions such as the Development Bank Sarawak (DBos), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).

The 8th edition of IDECS, themed “AI & Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges, and Community Resilience,” serves as a dynamic platform where global leaders, innovators, and stakeholders come together to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in promoting green evolution.

At the core of this theme is a deep commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to address complex challenges to establishing and sustaining the green evolution among stakeholders and communities.

Through engaging discussions and thought-provoking sessions, IDECS 2025 aims to chart a course towards a more sustainable and resilient future, driven by the transformative potential of AI.

The award categories for DEA2025 are the Digital Technology Transformation Award, Research & Development and Commercialisation Award, Entrepreneurship and Startup Award, Digital Government Award, Digital Creative Content Award, Environmental Sustainability Award and Digital Leadership Award.

The highlight of DEA2025 will be the Premier’s Digital Economy Award. The Premier's Digital Economy Award is a special recognition that describes the most outstanding deliverable outcomes among the 7 winners of the award categories.

The winners from the 7 award categories will be further evaluated for their strategic deliverable strategy, leadership in digital transformation, development of the ecosystem, capacity and capability building, as well as the creation of value for their organisations.

DEA2025 promises to celebrate digital innovation, collaboration, and progress, providing a platform for visionaries, pioneers, and innovators to inspire, collaborate, and pave the way for a digitally advanced Sarawak. The winners this year are certainly the ones to watch.
