MIRI: The full rehearsal for the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Marina Bridge Construction Project was held on Monday morning at the car park area near the Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre.

The rehearsal was conducted as preparation ahead of the official ceremony scheduled to be officiated by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in conjunction with Sarawak Day 2025 on Tuesday.

Present to observe the rehearsal were Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Miri Division Resident, Galong Luang, and Shin Yang Group Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho.

The construction of the bridge, which will connect Kampung Pulau Melayu and Marina Bay, is one of the Sarawak Government’s strategic development initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing community access, and boosting tourism and local economic growth in the northern region of the state.

The bridge, which is expected to become a new landmark in Miri City, will feature an iconic cable-stayed design that highlights modern architectural elements along the Marina Waterfront.

In addition, the bridge is projected to significantly reduce the current travel distance from approximately 10 kilometres to just 500 metres. -UKASnews
