KAPIT: Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs) and Bukit Goram Assemblyman, Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, conducted a site visit on Saturday to inspect the main access route connecting Rumah Jengging to Rumah Selli in the Sungai Menuan area.

The visit aimed to assess the current condition of the route, which serves as a vital link for four longhouses and a national primary school in this rural interior region.

The route is not only essential for daily commuting and transporting children to school, but also critical for the community’s socio-economic activities.

During the visit, Datuk Jefferson Jamit received briefings from attending officers and community leaders, who raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the road, which becomes especially difficult to use during the rainy season.

Acknowledging the community’s need for improved road infrastructure, he assured that the matter will be reviewed and brought to the attention of the relevant ministries and agencies for further action.

Also present during the visit were Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut, Deputy Chairman of the Kapit District Council, Councillor Martin Bilun, Acting Secretary of the Kapit District Council, Opang Malay, as well as local community leaders and village chiefs. -UKASnews
