MIRI: The first full rehearsal for the 2025 Sarawak Day Celebration took place on Friday at the Miri City Stadium, involving various government departments and agencies.
Organised by the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony and Event Management Unit (UPPANS), the rehearsal marked an early stage of preparation ahead of the official Sarawak Day celebration, which is scheduled to be held on 22 July 2025 in Miri city.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, was present to observe the entire rehearsal session, ensuring everything proceeded smoothly.
He also provided constructive feedback and suggestions to further refine the flow of the event and enhance its execution on the main day.
The rehearsal was aimed at fine-tuning the programme sequence, coordinating participant arrangements, and testing logistical preparations to ensure a flawless event—expected to be attended by the state’s top leaders, including the SarawakGovernor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
This year’s Sarawak Day carries the theme "Sarawak Maju Makmur" (Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak), reflecting the state’s aspirations for inclusive development and the well-being of its people.
A host of key programmes and special performances are expected to enliven the celebration, which will be held on a grand scale in Miri as the official host city.
Also in attendance were Miri Division Resident Galong Luang, Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusof, as well as heads of departments involved under the Sarawak Day 2025 Central Organising Committee. -UKASnews
