KUCHING: The Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak received a courtesy visit from Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communication Unit), Datuk Abdullah Saidol at its headquarters, here on Monday.

The visit was welcomed by JAPEN Sarawak Deputy Director, Sri Kestury Mohammed Zamhari.

It served to discuss the ‘Permukiman Komuniti MADANI Sarawak’ programme as well as the launch of the National Month and the 2025 Sarawak-Level Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign which will take place from 2 to 3 August at the Dewan Persekutuan of the Federation of Orang Ulu Associations Sarawak Malaysia (FORUM), Miri.

Datuk Abdullah, representing the Minister-In-Charge for the 2025 Sarawak-Level National Day Celebration, welcomed the programme and proposed that it highlight ethnic and cultural diversity such as traditional clothing and food to instil a spirit of patriotism and nationalism in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day this year.

The programme, set to be officiated by Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, will also be enlivened with various interesting events such as the ‘Forum Cinta Negara’, ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’, ‘Karnival Kita MADANI’, and ‘BAKTI MADANI’ programme.

During the visit, Datuk Abdullah also invited JAPEN to become a strategic partner of the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in organising casual engagement programmes with media agencies across Sarawak.

The planned programmes are expected to further strengthen strategic relations among media practitioners as well as federal and state government agencies. -UKASnews
