Inaugural Sarawak Media Conference Set To Gather Over 500 Local & Foreign Journalists

KUCHING: The inaugural Sarawak Media Conference (SMeC) 2024, set to take place from May 26 to 27, will explore the evolution of the media landscape in the age of digital and artificial intelligence (AI) in line with its theme, ‘Evolution of Media in the Digital Era’.
 
The program, held in conjunction with the National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2024, is expected to gather more than 500 journalists from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore.
 
This initiative is an effort of the Sarawak government to hold a conference for all assembled journalists to listen to experts’ insights on the topics to be discussed, including journalism ethics, digital media trends, and communication safety issues in the world of A.I.
 
It is organised by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) and the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA), in collaboration with Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak).
 
SMeC 2024 will feature a lineup of prominent speakers from both local and international backgrounds including Professor Charlie Beckett from the Department of Media and Communications of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Media and Communications Advisor and Chief Trainer from Singapore Media Academy, Mediacorp, Augustine Anthuvan, Associate Professor Jaspal Kaur from the School of Law, Policing, and Social Sciences of Canterbury Christ Church University, and Head of Communications Safety Center of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Saidatul Ashikin Abu Hassan.
 
It will also feature Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee, Munir Anaam from the Malaysian Press Institute, and Managing Director of Borneo Adventure, Philip Yong. -UKASnews
