BAU: A total of 23 students from the Tasik Biru constituency who have successfully gained admission into public and private institutions of higher learning (IPTA and IPTS) have received education incentives amounting to RM7,300.
The incentives were presented by Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Marine), Dato Henry Harry Jinep, during a brief ceremony held at the meeting room of the N2 Tasik Biru Service Centre on Wednesday.
Dato Henry said this marked the fourth distribution of such incentives this year, bringing the total to RM20,900 and benefitting 52 recipients to date.
“This one-off contribution from the Sarawak Government is intended to encourage and motivate students as they embark on their studies at universities and colleges, while also helping to ease the financial burden on their parents or guardians,” he explained.
The Tasik Biru Assemblyman stressed that the incentives are awarded regardless of race or household income, as long as the applicants meet the eligibility criteria.
He added that last year, a total of RM90,200 in education incentives was disbursed to 160 students from the Tasik Biru constituency. -UKASnews
