KUCHING: The Fuk Tek Kung Temple in Kampung Beliong, Asajaya, has received a much-welcomed funding boost from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to support upgrades to its infrastructure and basic facilities.

The cheque presentation ceremony was officiated by Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, at his office in the Baitulmakmur II Building here on Wednesday.

The temple’s management committee was represented by its chairman, Lee Vui Shin, who accepted the grant on behalf of the temple.

According to Lee, the financial aid is very timely and will be used to repair the temple’s ageing structure, purchase new equipment, and enhance overall safety and comfort for worshippers and visitors.

“This contribution is deeply meaningful to our community. It not only encourages our temple management but also reflects the state government’s genuine care and commitment to ensuring that all places of worship, regardless of faith or ethnicity, are maintained and respected,” he said.

He added that Fuk Tek Kung Temple is more than just a place of worship—it stands as a symbol of cultural heritage and identity for the Chinese community in Kampung Beliong.

With this funding, the temple is expected to continue playing an active role as a spiritual hub while contributing to harmony and unity among the local community. -UKASnews
