SIBU: Attiya Spa remains committed to empowering women in Sarawak through its corporate social initiative, Women of Strength, which has now expanded to Sibu with the opening of its third branch after Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

The launch ceremony held at Attiya Spa Sibu's new premises at Hann's Residence Commercial Centre on Sunday was officiated by Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who also expressed appreciation for Attiya's noble efforts in helping B40 women, especially single mothers, generate their own income.

“The Women of Strength programme provides skills training opportunities for women, helping them break out of the cycle of poverty.

“It is in line with the ministry’s desire to empower women through income-generating initiatives,” she said in her opening speech.

According to Dato Sri Fatimah, the success of several programme participants who are now able to become independent and support their families is proof of the effectiveness of the approach used by Attiya.

She also suggested that Attiya branches be opened in Bintulu and Miri, as both areas have potential for economic growth and a high population.

Touching on the aspect of customer trust, she also praised Attiya’s determination in maintaining a professional, customer-friendly service environment and emphasising privacy and the needs of Muslims.

“During my visit to the Attiya branch in Kuching, I saw a very professional atmosphere that met international standards.

“Muslim-friendly services, including special rooms and female masseuses, demonstrate Attiya’s commitment to the diversity of its customers,” she explained.

Dato Sri Fatimah also called on community leaders at the grassroots level to play a role in disseminating information about the training opportunities offered so that more women can benefit. -UKASnews
