UiTM Sarawak Proposes Community Development Projects In Alignment With Development Agenda

KUCHING: MARA University of Technology (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Juferi Idris, Deputy Rector (Research & Industry Network) held an official project proposal presentation to Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) and Bukit Goram Assemblyman.

The presentation took place at Deputy Minister’s office and, aimed to highlight several high-impact community development projects proposed by UiTM aligning with Sarawak’s development agenda.

In his remarks, Datuk Jefferson welcomed the initiatives with strong enthusiasm, praising the university's proactive role in engaging with local communities and stakeholders.

“I am impressed by UiTM Sarawak’s clear direction and commitment toward impactful education. These projects not only prepare students for the future of work but also provide direct and long-term benefits to our rural populations. I fully support these initiatives and will work closely with relevant government agencies to ensure effective implementation,” he stated.

“These initiatives align with the Sarawak government’s vision to foster sustainable development and improve livelihoods across Sarawak."

He also encouraged UiTM to consider expanding these programmes to other remote districts in Sarawak, especially those in need of critical skills training and socioeconomic support.

He further pledged to facilitate cooperation between UiTM and relevant government agencies to ensure smooth implementation and maximise impact.

This collaborative effort signifies a meaningful partnership aimed at leveraging education, tourism, research, and innovation to drive socioeconomic progress and improve the quality of life for Sarawak’s rural communities.-UKASnews
