SEBUYAU: The Ngiling Tikai Gawai Dayak 2025 programme serves as a platform to strengthen relationships between leaders and the local community in Sebuyau.
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said that this tradition is not just heritage, but also acts as a bridge between the community and grassroots leadership.
In addition, he said, this programme elevates the role of culture as an important foundation to strengthen relationships between leaders and the people at the rural community level.
He said this when speaking at the Ngiling Tikai Gawai Dayak 2025 Ceremony, in Kampung Lunying, here, on Thursday.
The Sebuyau Assemblyman expressed appreciation for the efforts of Rumah Panjang Kampung Lunying residents in maintaining ancestral traditions such as Ngiling Tikai, which is not only the core of Iban identity but also reflects the unity of the community which is an important asset to rural development.
“Culture is the foundation of our strength and the younger generation must continue to preserve this heritage because it does not only belong to the past, but is the pillar of the future.
“The Sarawak Government remains committed to developing rural areas comprehensively not only in terms of infrastructure, but also in terms of human capital and cultural development,” he said.
Also present were Samarahan Division Resident representative, Anuar Da’an, Sebuyau District Officer, Ayuradiman Bujang, Tuai Rumah Gindi Achang, Pemanca Merum Babu, Pemanca l Asli Yahya as well as village and community leaders, and members of the Kampung Lunying Village Development and Security Committee. -UKASnews
