KUCHING: The public is urged to download the Sarawak Croc Watch application to help identify high-risk areas, particularly locations where crocodile sightings have been reported.

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the app allows the public to report any sightings or encounters with crocodiles in specific areas.

“As such, we appeal for cooperation from all parties. We have launched Sarawak Croc Watch, a mobile app that can be downloaded by anyone.

“Through this app, we have been collecting data which allows users to identify high-risk zones.

“Any discovery or sighting of a crocodile can be uploaded through the app, enabling the public to be aware of high-risk locations and reducing the risk of crocodile-related incidents,” he said.

He told reporters when met at the Sarawak Media Conference (SMeC) 2025, held at a prominent hotel here on Wednesday.

To curb crocodile attacks, Datuk Len emphasised the importance of public education as a key risk reduction strategy.

He also noted that one of the Sarawak Government’s current measures involves relocating captured crocodiles to designated sanctuaries to ensure the safety of the local community. -UKASnews
