DALAT: Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah inspected the proposed site for the Dalat Fire and Rescue Station Development Project, here, on Monday.

The visit was also attended by Mukah Division Resident, Datu Kueh Lei Poh, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Deputy Director, Tiong Ling Hii and Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) Chairman, Councillor Arini Suhaili.

According to Dato Sri Fatimah, the construction of this fire station is significant as it is among the long-standing requests of Dalat residents which was finally approved under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“I call on all relevant agencies to go down to the field in the early stages of implementation to ensure this project runs smoothly,” she said.

The Dalat Assemblywoman also noted that the construction location of the project close to the Dalat Welfare Complex is exactly in line with the plan to establish the New Dalat Service Centre.

The project was approved with an allocation of RM9.8 million and is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with a construction period of 19 months and is expected to be completed in 2027.

Apart from the main building, this project also includes the construction of apartment-style quarters for the use of firefighters who will be stationed in Dalat.

“The Mukah Division is ahead of other divisions because we already have the location and land that have been approved.

"If there are additional needs in the future, these quarters will be able to accommodate the requirements of personnel working in Dalat,” she said.

This project is expected to increase the level of emergency preparedness in the Dalat area, and contribute to the development of a more sustainable security infrastructure in the Mukah Division. -UKASnews
