KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak Government continues to implement various initiatives to ensure that every student in the state has access to quality education, thus producing a generation that is able to compete and contribute to Sarawak's vision of being a developed region by 2030.
The Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Dato' Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said that the briefing on the Sarawak Government's Education Initiative provided exposure on government opportunities and facilities for a brighter future for the youth.
“Among the initiatives explained were the Sarawak Education Fund (PPS), Laptop Loan Scheme, Student Living Allowance (BSH), Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) and Sarawak/TEGAS Foundation Scholarship.
“All of these are aimed at easing the burden of students and providing a more conducive learning environment,” he said when officiating the briefing at Arena Gemilang, DeTAR Putra UNIMAS, on Tuesday.
The Tupong Assemblyman also called on students to make the most of the opportunities given by studying hard to achieve academic excellence and becoming independent, principled students who are able to contribute back to the state.
“Education is not only a way to achieve individual success, but also an important foundation in ensuring Sarawak continues to move forward and achieve its 2030 vision.
“I call on students to study hard, maintain discipline and prepare themselves as best as possible for a brighter future, not only for themselves, but also for their families, communities and beloved state,” he said.
In addition to the briefing, Dato’ Fazzrudin also announced an allocation of RM40,000 by the Sarawak Premier to the Bunga Raya College Foodbank Collection, UNIMAS, as proof of his concern for the welfare of students in need, to facilitate a more comfortable and pleasant learning process.
The briefing and information session is also seen as an important effort by the Sarawak Government to produce human capital that is capable of facing various challenges, thus ensuring that the Sarawak 2030 vision can be fully realised.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ir Ts Dr. Al-Khalid Othman, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Abdul Samad Ghani and Secretary of the Sarawak Civil Service (SPANS), Mohamad Lotfi Tuah. -UKASnews
