BINTULU: Sarawak remains steadfast to its commitment in strengthening English language education through the organisation of the Sarawak English Language Education Symposium (SELES) 2025 which was held for the first time in Bintulu, at a hotel here on Wednesday.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee said SELES is not just an academic platform, but a long-term effort to support the development of the state's human capital through quality English language education.

He also emphasised the importance of digital pedagogy in delivering relevant and effective English language teaching.
“Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), gamification and online learning are no longer just options, they are now a basic necessity in education.

"Therefore, teachers need to be given continuous support and exposure to be able to adapt to these changes," he said.
SELES 2025 also serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration between teachers, researchers and education policy makers to form a more robust and sustainable English learning ecosystem.

Datuk Dr. Annuar also called on all participants to make SELES a catalyst for change.
"Let us utilise this platform to spark ideas, build networks and drive change.
"From clicks to confidence, together we can build a better educational future for Sarawak," he said. -UKASnews
