BELURU: An atmosphere of celebration and unity was prevalent when over 2,000 people flocked to the Beluru Community Hall to attend the 2025 Gawai Dayak Open House Celebration organised by the Marudi Assemblyman's Community Service Centre on Saturday.
The ceremony, which took place from 10am to 3pm, was organised to celebrate Gawai Dayak with the diverse communities in the Marudi area.
Present to enliven the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government and Marudi Assemblyman, Datuk Dr. Penguang Manggil and his wife, Datin Monica Ukong Jaya.
The ceremony began with a prayer, followed by a meal and various interesting activities such as cultural performances including Pampat Drums, Kuntau, Ngajat dance and performances by guest artists.
Also present were Miri Division Resident, Galong Luang, Beluru District Officer, Charles Aloysius Lisu, Iban Pemanca of Beluru District, Enggah Muga Pemanca, Marudi Chinese Pemanca, Wong Pemanca as well as Community Leaders, Village Chiefs and Local Council Members. -UKASnews
