KUCHING: The Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 Leo Forum 2025 serves as an important platform in shaping a young generation that is confident, competitive, and driven by the spirit of volunteerism.
Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah described students’ involvement in Lions Club-led programmes as an early investment in cultivating leadership grounded in values and civic awareness.
“It is one of the best avenues to build self-confidence among students and instil the spirit of volunteerism from a young age,” he said.
He told reporters after officiating the forum at the Raia Hotel and Convention Centre, here on Thursday.
According to Dato Sri Abdul Karim, instilling volunteerism from a young age can help shape a generation that is more socially conscious and willing to give back to the community as they grow older.
“When this spirit is cultivated during their school years, it develops individuals who are inclined to give back to the community. These are the values I see being championed by the Lions Club and Leo Club,” he added.
The forum, which brings together 351 delegates from 36 Leo Clubs across Sarawak and Sabah, runs from 5 until 7 June. -UKASnews
