Main Committee Meeting Fine-Tunes Preparations For Sarawak Day 2025 Celebration In Miri

MIRI: Preparations are well underway for the Sarawak Day 2025 celebration which will be hosted in the Miri Division from 20 to 22 July.

The planning efforts were further strengthened through the First Main Committee Meeting (No. 1/2025) held at the Miri Division Resident’s Office on Thursday, chaired by Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin who also serves as the Minister-in-Charge of this year’s Sarawak Day celebration.

During the session, key components were presented by the various sub-committees, including plans for major programmes and flagship events scheduled over the three-day celebration.

Dato Sri Lee emphasised the need for more detailed discussions at the sub-committee levels and urged each working group to present updates on their preparations during the next Main Committee Meeting slated for 20 June.

Among the critical areas highlighted were safety measures, event management, promotional efforts, and active participation from the local community.

The organising committee also presented reports on the current state of preparations and task delegation to ensure every activity runs smoothly.

This comprehensive approach is intended to ensure that all aspects of the event are managed efficiently and holistically.

Dato Sri Lee also stressed that this year’s Sarawak Day celebration would see broader participation from the local community.

A wide range of programmes are being planned to engage people from all walks of life, aligning with the ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ vision that champions unity and inclusive development.

Exciting events scheduled in conjunction with the celebration include a Sales and Sarawak Talent Carnival, Zumba session, Interfaith Thanksgiving Ceremony, a Unity Walk, and a Townhall session with state leaders.

The highlight of the celebration will be the Sarawak Day Assembly which is set to take place on 22 July at the Miri City Stadium.

Members of the public, especially those in Miri City and surrounding areas, are invited to attend and enliven the event which will also be graced by Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapa'ee, Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, Miri Division Deputy Resident, Bujang Rahman Seli, Miri District Officer, Siti Rohanie Yusof, as well as heads of departments and agency representatives. -UKASnews
