4th PMG Invitational Table Tennis Championships In Sarikei Receives Encouraging Response

SARIKEI: The 4th PMG Invitational Table Tennis Championships drew to a close with an official closing ceremony officiated by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability and Sarikei Member of Parliament, Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii at SMK Tinggi Sarikei Hall, on Tuesday.

The tournament, organised by the Sarikei Division Table Tennis Association gathered over 300 participants and supporters, reflecting the encouraging reception for the sport at the grassroots level.

In his speech, Dato’ Sri Huang congratulated the organisers on the success of organising the tournament in an organised and enthusiastic manner.

He also called for efforts to develop the sport of table tennis to continue to be intensified, including attracting the youth to participate in healthy and constructive activities.

“Don’t be proud when you win, don’t lose hope. Keep practicing and improve your skills,” he advised the participants.

As a sign of support, he also announced a donation of RM10,000 to the Sarikei Division Table Tennis Association and RM10,000 to the Sarawak Table Tennis Association to support the association's annual activities.

Meanwhile, the President of the Sarawak Table Tennis Association and Chairman of the Sarikei Division Table Tennis Association, Dr Chieng King Chiong, expressed his commitment to continue organising this tournament every year in June, and hoped for wider participation from across Sarawak in the future.

He also expressed his appreciation to Dato' Sri Huang for his continued support for the development of sports in Sarikei.-UKASnews
