SARIKEI: The lively 'Majlis Ngabang Hari Gawai Dayak 2025' held at four longhouses in the Repok area has become a meaningful platform for the local community to voice their concerns and requests directly to their elected representative.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, who attended the festivities, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the longhouse residents for their warm hospitality and kind invitation.
“This celebration plays an important role in strengthening ties between leaders and the community in the joyful spirit of Gawai Dayak,” he said on Saturday.
The Member of Parliament for Sarikei and Repok Assemblyman said he was deeply moved by the continued support from his constituents.
“This support motivates me to keep raising local issues and advocating for the people’s needs at both the Parliament and the Sarawak Legislative Assembly,” he added.
The 'Ngabang Gawai' festivities were hosted at four longhouses, Rumah Pitre Ambit, Rumah Clement Asuh, Rumah Anthony Suding and Rumah Mawas Timbu, with each visit offering a unique opportunity for community interaction and cultural sharing. -UKASnews
