KUCHING: Local production company Kamek Empun Production paid a courtesy call on Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information & UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol at his office in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Monday.

The visit, led by Kamek Empun Production Managing Director, Jalot Jeman, aimed to promote their latest film titled ‘Tumbukan Emas: Sapok Biki’.

According to Jalot who also serves as the film director, the premiere of ‘Tumbukan Emas: Sapok Biki’ is tentatively scheduled for 23 July 2025, pending confirmation from the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), with nationwide cinema screenings expected around September 2025.

During the meeting, Datuk Abdullah expressed that there is no objection for UKAS to assist in promoting the film, particularly in the form of promotional teasers.

He noted that this support is further strengthened by MTCP’s involvement and financial backing provided to the production.

“The film, which highlights the story of Sarawak’s renowned boxing icon, Sapok Biki, deserves recognition and support not only for honouring a Sarawakian figure but also for its potential as a cultural and tourism product for the state,” he said.

Also present during the courtesy call was UKAS Director, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan. -UKASnews
