ENGKILILI: Efforts to boost rural development in the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency have been further strengthened with the announcement of an allocation exceeding RM200,000 by Member of Parliament Roy Angau Gingkoi during the 'Segulai Sejalai Nuju Pemansang Menua Lubok Antu' programme held at Rumah Bangkong.
Roy stated that the allocation is intended to enhance infrastructure, strengthen local administration, and empower women’s roles within village communities.
Among the allocations announced was RM150,000 for the construction of an awning to provide greater comfort for villagers, especially during community events.
An additional RM30,000 has been set aside for the provision of canopies to support a range of local programmes, including social and cultural activities.
The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Bangkong will receive RM20,000 to support administrative and management needs, while the Women’s Bureau has been allocated RM8,000 to encourage greater involvement of women in community development.
These allocations reflect the government’s continued commitment to prioritising the well-being of rural communities and ensuring that development efforts reach all levels of society.
“Development is not solely about physical infrastructure; it also involves effective administration, social cohesion, and empowering communities to actively shape their future,” he said.
Also present at the event was Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Kua Jack Seng. -UKASnews
