LANGKAWI: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, made an official visit to the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25) on Friday.
The visit was held at the invitation of the Ministry of Defence Malaysia in conjunction with LIMA’25, which was officially opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 20 May and is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
Upon arrival at the Langkawi International Airport, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan were warmly received by Army Eastern Field Commander, Lieutenant General Dato’ Mohd Sofi Md Lepi and his wife, Datin Erni Irawati Rosli, along with senior Royal Malaysian Air Force officers, Brigadier General Ramli Mohd Abd. Jabar and Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Shahfreen Baba.
Also part of the delegation was Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Zuraini.
The Governor and his entourage were then taken to the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) for a tour of the various exhibition booths showcasing cutting-edge technologies in the aerospace and maritime sectors.
The visit began at the SAPURA booth and was followed by a captivating aerial acrobatics and tactical aircraft formation display.
The itinerary continued with visits to booths by Turkish defence companies ASELSAN and STM, as well as Malaysia’s National Aerospace and Defence Industry (NADI), before the delegation departed for Kuala Lumpur.
LIMA’25, held under the theme “Today’s Progress, Tomorrow’s Achievements,” marks its 17th edition and remains the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in Southeast Asia.
The event gathers industry players from across the globe, including participants from China, France, Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Russia, and many others, featuring more than 100 aircraft and 35 naval vessels on display.
In his statement of appreciation, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi expressed hope that LIMA would continue to serve as a key platform to empower local entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises in Malaysia’s strategic industries.
He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Ministry of Defence for the successful organisation of this prestigious event, which he described as a meaningful and insightful experience. -UKASnews
