KUCHING: Amendments introduced under the Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025 intend to safeguard land and prevent cases of land fraud in Sarawak.

Serembu Assemblyman, Miro Simuh expressed hope that the amendments made can strengthen jurisdiction of authority and justification in the matter of land disputes.

“I hope the amendments that will be made to the bill to enhance the clear authority and strict justification for any request of issuing new land titles and any matters related to land transferring the fraud issues of land matters can be eliminated.

“With the introduction of stringent legal framework and better protection to the genuine landowner, we hope the amendment will be well suited to its needs,” he said.

He said this during the debate session for the Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025 at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Tuesday.

Miro further proposed enforcing strict ethical standards and improved integrity training for staff in the land registry unit to deter issues of integrity. -UKASnews
