KUCHING: The Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Phase 1 project has recorded 29.89 per cent progress as of April 2025.

Deputy Minister for Transport, Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil said the operation of KUTS Phase 1 will be implemented in stages, with the first segment under the Blue Line, covering the route from Rembus to Riveria, scheduled to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.

“This date is later than originally anticipated due to several delays in construction works,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Tuesday.

Datuk Dr. Jerip said full operations for the entire KUTS Phase 1 project are expected to begin by 2028.

The first phase of the project involves an Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system, covering approximately 69.9 kilometres, with three main routes and a total of 31 stations planned for construction. -UKASnews
