KUCHING: Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar graced the Ceremonial Inspection of the Guard of Honour in conjunction with the Opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) held at the Dataran Perbarisan, here on Monday.
The ceremony began with the march-in by a contingent of 105 personnel, comprising three senior officers and 102 other-ranks from the General Operations Force and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), accompanied by 40 members of the PDRM Sarawak Contingent Band led by Band Director, Inspector Frankie Billy.
The Head of State then proceeded to inspect the Main Guard of Honour, accompanied by Parade Commanding Officer, DSP Harun Saharudin Mohamad, and Banner Officer, Inspector Mohamad Azizi Kamil.
Also present to witness the ceremony were the Sarawak Governor’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi; Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang; Sarawak Deputy Premiers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian; Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar; Sarawak Cabinet Ministers; Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Deputy Ministers; Assemblymen; heads of departments; and other dignitaries.
After the ceremony, the programme continued with a proclamation by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia, followed by an opening address by Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi, before the official adjournment of the meeting.
The current DUN sitting, held from 19 to 28 May, will focus on the tabling of six Bills.
Three Bills will be tabled by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, namely the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill, 2025, Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill, 2025, and the Infrastructure Development Trust Fund (Dissolution) Bill, 2025.
In addition, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah will table the Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025, while Datuk Amar Dr. Sim will table the Local Authorities (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (Amendment) Bill, 2025 will be tabled by Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn. -UKASnews
