KUCHING: The Kuching Amphitheatre came alive on Sunday night as thousands of music enthusiasts filled the area for the grand finale of the Kuching Music Festival 2025 despite a light drizzle over the city.
The excitement reached its peak when national music icon, Dato Jamal Abdillah took the stage with a soulful performance that captivated the crowd, earning thunderous applause and cheers from an audience that braved the unpredictable weather.
Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was present to show his continued support for the growth of the music and performing arts industry in the state.
The two-day festival, held from 17 to 18 May, featured a variety of mesmerising performances by local artistes accompanied by a professional orchestra from Kuala Lumpur.
This collaboration injected fresh energy into both classical and contemporary musical works, elevating the quality and recognition of local artistry to greater heights.
Among other dignitaries present for the festival’s grand finale were Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his wife, and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi and his wife.
Mayor of Kuching North City Commission, Dato Hilmy Othman was also present to enliven the prestigious event.
The Kuching Music Festival continues to serve as a vital platform for gathering local artistic talent while further cementing Sarawak’s position as a dynamic hub for tourism and culture in the region.
