KUCHING: Sarawak today achieved another significant milestone in its aspiration to become a thriving and innovative digital economy with the launch of its local metaverse platform, Metadise.

Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said Metadise is not just a digital platform, but a symbol of bold progress in the state’s digital transformation journey.

“It reflects a shared aspiration for a future where technology empowers individuals, communities and industries.

“Metadise is a testament to Sarawak-born innovation where as a pioneering metaverse platform, it opens up new opportunities in immersive experiences for education, tourism, commerce and culture.

“Built on local creativity and ambition, it reflects forward-thinking solutions that will propel us, Sarawak, to the next phase of digital transformation,” he said.

He said this in a speech read by Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Deputy Permanent Secretary Anielia Siam at the Metadise Launching Ceremony at The Podium on Saturday.

To note, Metadise, developed through the creativity and ambition of Sarawakians, is a pioneering metaverse platform that offers a variety of immersive experiences in the fields of education, tourism, commerce and culture.

Dato Sri Roland added that MEITD is committed to empowering education, strengthening innovation and developing local talent so that Sarawak remains ready for the digital era.

In this regard, he said, Metadise contributes as an interactive ecosystem that supports immersive learning, creative expression and future-oriented career paths including in the fields of virtual design, digital content and metaverse development.

"Sarawak is transitioning from a resource-based economy to an economy driven by knowledge and innovation.

"The Sarawak Government is investing in digital infrastructure, technical education and the innovation ecosystem but this transformation cannot happen alone.

"Therefore, we need platforms like Metadise to bring technology to life and offer meaningful opportunities to youth, entrepreneurs, educators and creators, so that the community can truly benefit from this programme," he explained.

Dato Sri Roland said that his party is confident that Metadise will not only grow as an innovation from Sarawak but will also become a regional leader and potentially a global leader in digital experiences.

Also held was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony and MoU Exchange Ceremony between Metadise and strategic partners, namely Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, FAME International College, Xturn Ventures from Taiwan and Kenal Limited Holdings from Hong Kong. -UKASnews
