KAPIT: Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki continued his official working visit to Kapit with an inspection of the implementation and progress of road construction and upgrading works in Temalat, Song.
The visit on Tuesday was joined by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Pelagus Assemblyman, Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Katibas Assemblyman, Lidam Assan, Kapit Division Resident, Elvis Didit, Song District Officer, Harry Bruce Edwin, as well as heads of departments.
One of the key components of the project is slope protection works, which are currently underway with an estimated cost of RM1,998,510.33 and are expected to be completed before the Gawai Dayak celebration.
This initiative aims to improve safety and travel convenience for the locals.
In addition, slope remedial works have also been proposed with an estimated cost of RM4,987,726.65, and are expected to be completed within four months of implementation.
The visit underscored the importance of regular monitoring and close cooperation between implementing agencies to ensure works progress smoothly and according to schedule.
The presence of numerous leaders, including elected representatives and technical departments, clearly reflects the state government's strong commitment to prioritising rural development.
Local residents were also present and given the opportunity to voice their views and feedback directly to the government on infrastructure matters and their daily needs. -UKASnews
