KUCHING: The Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) and Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) make history with its first ever collaboration to organise the inaugural Media Run on July 20, 2025 in Kuching.
The Media Run symbolises a new era of cooperation and innovation within the journalism community.
This inaugural partnership between CJA and KDJA reflects a shared commitment to promoting health, wellness and unity among media practitioners in Kuching and beyond.
This event aims to strengthen industry camaraderie while spotlighting the significance of collaboration and support for media professionals.
Both associations are excited about the opportunities this collaboration presents—not just for creating lasting memories but also for inspiring future projects that foster inclusivity and professional growth.
"This partnership marks an exciting milestone for both CJA and KDJA. Bringing media professionals together for a recreational and health-focused event not only strengthens industry bonds but also underscores the importance of collaboration in journalism," stated CJA President, Alice Wee.
"Engaging media supporters through recreational initiatives is a fantastic way to foster connection beyond the newsroom.
“We hope to take the lead in creating spaces where media professionals can unwind while staying active,” she said.
KDJA President, Ronnie Teo added that journalism is a fast-paced profession, therefore making it easy to overlook wellness.
This initiative serves as an important reminder that a healthy lifestyle contributes to sharper focus and overall well-being, ensuring media professionals can continue their vital work with energy and resilience.
"We have come up with unique t-shirt designs themed around journalism. Our medal is also designed based on a camera, with our mascot being an orangutan journalist.
"We hope that these will add excitement to the Media Run, making it more appealing to both media professionals and the public. With unique designs and meaningful symbols, we aim to create an engaging experience that participants will remember long after the event," he said.
