LONDON: The inaugural 'Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025' – United Kingdom Edition marked a historic milestone as the first of its kind to be held outside Malaysia, drawing an enthusiastic response from approximately 230 Sarawakian students currently pursuing their studies in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
An initiative spearheaded by the Sarawak Government, the programme was designed to strengthen ties with the Sarawakian diaspora, particularly among students and young professionals living abroad.
The event was organised through a close collaboration between Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Volunteers, and the Sarawak Student Association United Kingdom, reflecting the state’s commitment to engaging its global youth community.
A key objective of the programme was to expose Sarawakian students overseas to the state government’s policies and development strategies, particularly in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
The initiative aimed to foster a deeper understanding of Sarawak’s sustainable development goals and the strategic direction shaping its future.
One of the highlights of the programme was the townhall session with the Premier of Sarawak, providing students with a rare opportunity to engage directly with the state’s top leadership, voice their opinions, and offer constructive suggestions.
The session also helped to deepen students’ awareness of Sarawak’s development trajectory and their potential role in it.
Beyond policy engagement, the programme served to inspire confidence among Sarawakian students abroad, reaffirming the state government’s concern for their welfare and well-being.
The event also opened up avenues for participants to explore career prospects, facilitated through the involvement of government agencies and corporate partners who serve as strategic allies of the Sarawak Government.
A range of activities was held throughout the programme, including dialogue sessions, career exhibitions, and personal development workshops, all aimed at empowering young talents and strengthening the Sarawakian diaspora network across Europe.
Among the key segments featured were the Sarawak Students’ Townhall with the Premier, Meet & Greet Anak Sarawak, Kenyalang Speaks, Sarawak Dialogue, and the much-anticipated 'Majlis Makan Malam Anak Sarawak' (Sarawak Students’ Gala Dinner). -UKASnews
