296 Swinburne Graduates Celebrate Success During Convocation Ceremony

KUCHING: A total of 296 graduates from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus were felicitated at a grand convocation ceremony held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Wednesday.

The ceremony marked the end of the graduates’ academic journey and the beginning of a new phase in their lives.

Of the total, 251 were undergraduate degree graduates, including 117 graduates in business, 46 graduates in computer science, 44 graduates in engineering, 12 graduates in information and communication technology, 17 graduates in design, six graduates in media and communication, five graduates in science, as well as four graduates with a double degree in Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics) and Computer Science.

In addition, 21 diploma graduates received their scrolls, with 18 in Business Management and three in Accounting.

Swinburne also celebrated 21 master's degree graduates and three PhD graduates in business.

Meanwhile, a further 31 graduates received their awards in absentia.

The graduates represented various countries including Malaysia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Vietnam, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

The ceremony was also graced by the presence of the Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and his wife, Dato Fatimah Mohd Iskandar, to celebrate the success of their son who received a Bachelor of Design degree.

The ceremony was chaired by Swinburne's Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, Professor Simon Ridings. -UKASnews
