Serian Agrofest 2025 Expected To Attract 4,000 Visitors, Boost Agriculture Sector

SERIAN: The inaugural Serian Agrofest 2025, to be held at Dataran Bandar Mutiara Tebedu, is expected to attract more than 4,000 visitors including attendees from West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

In a press conference here on Monday, Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Martin Ben said the Serian Agrofest 2025 aims to showcase the products of farmers, livestock breeders, and inland fishermen, introduce digital agriculture technologies, and raise community awareness about agriculture development programmes.

“This programme will also serve as a platform for the Department of Agriculture to engage with its stakeholders and empower community participation through a variety of activities during the event,” said the Kedup Assemblyman.

Serian Agrofest 2025 is also set to become an annual event in the Serian Division Official Celebration Calendar, drawing visitors from Tebedu, Serian, Siburan, and neighbouring areas across the Indonesian border.

It is projected to generate an estimated revenue of RM100,000 with over 70 exhibition booths featuring government agencies, entrepreneurs, private companies, and local products.

Among the activities planned are exhibitions on agriculture technology, commodity planting courses, demonstrations on fish breeding and lobster cooking, agriculture product sales, karaoke competitions, children's colouring contests, a tuak competition, and an Agrofest concert.

The official launch of Serian Agrofest 2025 is scheduled for 23 May and is expected to be officiated by Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD), Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom.

The event will also be enlivened by the Gawai ‘Nginyon’ Parade, showcasing the participation of various ethnic groups under the Serian Division administration.

Serian Agrofest forms part of the Agrofest series being held across the state including Limbang, Pakan, Spaoh, and Sibu, culminating in the grand Sarawak Agrofest event to be announced later.

Also present at the press conference were Bukit Semuja Assemblyman, John Ilus, Tebedu Assemblyman, Dr. Simon Sinang Bada, and Serian Division Resident, Caroline Cleophas Joseph. -UKASnews
