BAU: Approximately 300 participants representing 15 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) took part in the KMKK Singai Randau Session held on Saturday.
The programme began with a development briefing delivered by Penghulu Morris John Siren, highlighting current and planned development initiatives in the Singai area.
This was followed by a session on clarification of the roles and responsibilities of community leaders and JKKK, presented by the District Officer of Bau, Eddy Nayoi.
The briefing aims to strengthen understanding of the official roles and governance guidelines for grassroots leaders in carrying out their responsibilities to the community.
Key topics included the administration of ancestral property, licensed ownership of shotguns, and other relevant matters.
The randau session was hosted by Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, who is also Tasik Biru Assemblyman.
He was accompanied by Bau District Officer, Eddy Nayoi; Bau District Police Chief, DSP Dr. Daram Ruer; Pemanca Robert Tom; and Penghulu Morris.
Throughout the open and interactive session, various issues were raised by community representatives, including physical development, long-term planning, Native Customary Rights (NCR) land matters, as well as the welfare and involvement of youth in the area.
In his remarks, Dato Henry called upon all Community Leaders (KMKK) and JKKK members to work hand in hand in addressing the needs of the people.
He emphasised the importance of cooperation and collaboration to ensure that local community needs are addressed effectively through official and structured platforms.
As a symbolic gesture to empower grassroots leadership, YB Dato Henry also presented official appointment letters to the newly appointed Ketua Kaum entrusted with the responsibility of leading their respective communities.
Such sessions serve as a vital platform to align perspectives, disseminate government policy information, and strengthen communication networks between grassroots leaders and government agencies towards achieving sustainable and inclusive community development.-UKASnews
