KUCHING: Muara Tuang Assemblyman Dato Idris Buang was reappointed as Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly in an official ceremony held at the Astana Negeri Sarawak, here on Wednesday.

The appointment ceremony began at 10am with the presentation of the letter of appointment to Dato Idris before he took the oath of office in front of the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

This re-appointment saw Dato Idris return to the position he had held for three years previously.

The ceremony was also attended by the Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (Tourism), Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni; Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Sarawak (Port Development), Dato Majang Renggi and Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Dato Ibrahim Baki.

Also present were the Director of Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit (UPPANS), Datu Hamdan Sharbini; Sarawak Police Commissioner, Dato Macha Ata and the Grand Imam of the Sarawak State Mosque, Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi. -UKASnews
