KUCHING: The spirit of unity among young women is the main essence of the World Thinking Day 2025 Celebration organised by the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (PPM) Sarawak Branch, at a prominent hotel, here on Saturday.
The symbolic ceremony was officiated by the Wife of the Sarawak Governor, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi who is the Patron of PPM Sarawak Branch.
Themed 'Our Story', this celebration reveals the important role of young women in building a united, progressive and resilient community, in line with the global aspirations of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Among the highlights that stole the show was the candle lighting ceremony, as a symbol of the ray of confidence and strength that burns within every Girl Guide member.
Also present were Sarawak PPM Chief Commissioner, Ruth Sibat, Sarawak PPM President, Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, Sarawak PPN Vice President, Annie Sim, Sarawak Scout Chief Commissioner, John Lim Boon Beng and representatives from the Sarawak State Education Department.
In addition, more than 200 Girl Guides from schools around Kuching including Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St. Mary, SMK St. Teresa, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Matu Baru and SMK Matang Jaya participated in the event, making it a platform to strengthen networking and leadership spirit among young members. -UKASnews
