RM3 Million Allocated For Sarawak General Hospital Facilities Upgrade

KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has received an allocation of RM3 million for the purpose of improving facilities and acquiring important assets for the comfort of staff and patients.

Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof said the approval of the funds was made after discussions with Sarawak State Development Director, Jasni Jubli.

“Part of this fund will be used to upgrade existing facilities, while the rest will be for asset acquisition.

“After discussion, we agreed to approve the RM3 million allocation,” he said during his speech at the Speta Raya 2025 organised by SGH at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall on Friday.

In addition, he also announced the approval of RM150,000 in assistance under the Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund to help patients from the B40 group obtain the necessary medical equipment.

Adding that, he is also ready to assist with additional needs related to the construction of the Al-Mushtasfa Mosque at the SGH.

In a related development, the old nurses’ quarters located in front of the hospital will be renovated into a special stopover for patients and families.

“This stopover called 'Anjung Kasih' will provide facilities for patients and family members who need a temporary place to stay while undergoing treatment,” he explained.

Also present were the Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Director of SGH, Dr Ngian Hie Ung and Sarawak State Development Director, Jasni Jubli, along with other distinguished guests. – UKASnews
