KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) continues to serve as an important platform in nurturing quality leaders within the Sarawak Civil Service.
Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the success of former Yayasan Sarawak Director, Datu Mersal Abang Rosli is an achievement that should be emulated by civil servants, especially among young officers.
According to him, Datu Mersal began his career in the civil service as a clerk and steadily rose through the ranks to eventually lead the organisation, thus proving that commitment, discipline, and personal development can pave the way towards professional excellence.
“If we continue to show strong potential and persevere, nothing is impossible in achieving greater heights.
“Datu Mersal is a clear example of self-development within the civil service,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Jasamu Dikenang Ceremony in conjunction with Datu Mersal’s retirement held at a leading hotel here, on Wednesday.
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar added, Datu Mersal’s accomplishments demonstrate that Yayasan Sarawak is not merely an educational institution, but also a platform that cultivates leaders with integrity and capability.
“Yayasan Sarawak has produced many figures who are now leading various government agencies and departments.
“This is the result of a strong work culture and the spirit of kinship that has always been practised within the institution,” he added.
Datu Mersal served in the public service for 43 years, with the majority of that time dedicated to advancing education and human capital development through his role at Yayasan Sarawak.
The ceremony was also attended by the new Director of Yayasan Sarawak, Datu Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin, Vice-Chancellor of i-CATS University College, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, and other guests. - UKASnews
