KUCHING: The Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) is invited to collaborate with the Sarawak Government to explore new areas such as offshore Sarawak coastlines.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said, it is a new initiative to explore hydrocarbon content offshore for carbon storage purposes.
"If it happens, I can tell you that at present, Sarawak is the pioneer in implementing carbon storage in this region," he said.
He made these remarks while delivering a speech at the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner of RISM Sarawak held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari wants surveyors to embrace digitisation in their workflow.
He said this step would facilitate surveying works, including marine and hydraulic, for the increasing number of state government projects.
During the same event, the Sarawak Premier also launched the construction of the 0 KM monument, which will be built in this city after finalising the design and location with the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU).
