KUCHING: The Sarawak Premier’s Aidilfitri Open House, hosted by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, continued to draw a massive crowd on its second day, with over 10,000 visitors gathering at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Tuesday.
As early as 8.30 am, guests began filling the venue, despite the event only commencing at 10 am.
The festive spirit was heightened by the presence of attendees from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, many of whom donned their traditional attire, reflecting Sarawak’s unique multicultural harmony.
The event was further enlivened by the presence of several state leaders, who took the opportunity to interact with the public in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Visitors not only indulged in an array of special festive delicacies but were also treated to cultural performances that added to the celebratory mood.
Meanwhile, reporters from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) spoke to several attendees about their experiences at the open house.
Mohd Amirul expressed his delight at witnessing people from different ethnicities celebrating Aidilfitri together in Sarawak.
“I was surprised to see such diversity—it's not just the Malay community celebrating Hari Raya. Here in Sarawak, other ethnic groups also get to experience the festivities.
“My hope is that events like this will continue in the future because they showcase the uniqueness of Sarawak, where people of all backgrounds and religions come together,” he said.
For David, this was not his first time attending the Sarawak Premier’s Aidilfitri Open House.
"I find the Hari Raya celebrations in Sarawak to be exceptionally vibrant and lively, as they bring together people from various races and ethnicities," he remarked.
Leoni shared David’s sentiments, expressing her excitement about participating in the celebration.
"This year’s event is truly festive, and it is not my first time attending the Sarawak Premier’s Aidilfitri Open House," she said. -UKASnews
