SONG: The spirit of unity and harmony of the multi-racial community in Song was evident in the first 'Jom Berambeh Syawal' programme held at the Nurul Islam Kampung Mosque compound.
The programme, organised by the Mosque Development Committee and the Welfare and Social Council (LAKIS), became a platform for the unification of local residents, proving that the spirit of goodwill continues to flourish among the people regardless of racial and religious backgrounds.
Katibas Assemblyman, Lidam Assan, in his speech, expressed appreciation to the organisers for their noble efforts in holding a programme that can strengthen community ties.
“The community in Song is very unique because we can celebrate every festival together regardless of race and religion. This proves the strong unity here, and I hope this practice can be maintained for the sake of common prosperity,” he said in his speech at the programme on Monday.
He also stressed that the unity that has been established for so long stems from the attitude of respecting the customs and taboos of each race, in addition to the practice of tolerance which is the pillar of harmony.
“This unity is not only important for our community in Song, but it is also the foundation for the progress of our state. With a spirit of mutual respect, we can build a more developed and prosperous state,” he added.
The ceremony was also enlivened with various activities and an Aidilfitri celebration treat that encouraged interaction between local residents.
Lidam also took the opportunity to wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all those celebrating, while calling for this long-standing value of unity to continue to be strengthened for the sake of future generations. -UKASnews
